Purchasey

So...Ella is really learning to read now. It is super awesome. The other night we were going thru the taco bell drive thru and she started reading the signs hanging up in the window.

Ella: hot, mild, fire.
Frootie: what about that one?
Ella: um, free drink with...uh..
Frootie: Sound it out.
Ella: Uh, purr shae ze.
Frootie: Very close. Purchase. Do you know what that means?
Ella: Nope.
Frootie: Well, it's a Fancy Nancy word for buy. Like this, I just purchased our taco bell with my debit card!
Ella: Awesome. I want to go purchase some money.

Camera Dramera

So....about 2 months ago my canon elph went missing. It is the camera I carry with me all the time and let Ella use anytime she wants too. As seen here:
I have used it countless times to shoot when I don't have or want to use my 50d. I understand that this means nothing to everyone else but to me, it was a huge inconvenience. I knew that it was lost and it was most likely little E's doing. I didn't mind, because I always let her use it, I mean in all honesty, when she is around I call it her camera.

On Halloween weekend I didn't want to take my 50 to Bowling Green, nor did I want to take it Halloweening. So! Thursday I went to Sam's and bought a bundle of AA batteries and a larger memory card for Prince C's old camera. I was playing good sport. Playing good sport until Halloween day. The DAMN batteries died on that stinkin' camera before I got 10 pictures. Boo-hiss.

Monday I mentioned to mom that I didn't get many photos on Baby's first Halloween and she said "get your butt in gear and buy a new camera, I'll pay". I know, I know, you are wondering why this is on Ella's blog....well here is the kicker.

Remember the camera that has been missing for 2, maybe 2 and a half months....

Wednesday, I got my new camera!! A sd1400is canon elph in PINK! As I was opening the package this conversation happens:

Ella: Oooh, what's that?
Me: A new camera.
Ella: Oh! I have a surprise Hilwe! Daddy, go get my backpack so I can show her!
Me: Ella! Did you find my camera?
Ella: *giant grin -- nodding*
Me: WhAt?!? I knew that would happen!!

That little stinker found the old camera this week....the same week I got a new one.

Geez.

Favorite Cousin: Geneva

No offense Kristopher, but she is gaga over Geneva.

Last weekend we went to Bowling Green to see family. Ella is just crazy about her cousins. We had a great weekend. The kids carved pumpkins one night. Thanks Uncle John!

Sister Love

Nora is so in love with her sissy that Monday at lunch with Rachel, Sarah, Jeff, and baby Helen she got extra excited when Helen said "Sissy" talking to her Auntie Sissy aka Sarah. Thank goodness Ella came Tuesday night.

Hills

Two Fridays ago I dropped Ella off at school. When we arrived she hopped out, kissed me on the cheek like a girlfriend, and said "kiss kiss Hills, have a good day at work!"

It was one of those moments that makes being a step-mom so cool.

Getting Baptized

Last Friday when I picked Ella up from school she told me a girl in her class was getting baptized on Sunday.

Obviously I wanted to know if Ella knew what this meant.

Me: What does being baptized mean, Ella?
Ella: It means that you get dunked into the water and when you come out all your sins are washed away and you have a new life.
Me: Well! That is an impressive answer. You got it all under control, huh?
Ella: Yep, and I really want to get baptized too. Can I get baptized this Sunday too, Hilwe?
Me: Well honeybee, I bet your Mommy will want to be there...Soooo, maybe we should wait. And, you know you have to ask Jesus to be your savior first too.
Ella: Oh Hilwe! I do that all the time. See, Dear Jesus, will you come into my heart? Ok? Ok!
Me: Oh! Ok, well I am glad you have done that!
Ella: Yeah, so can I get Baptized, because I want a new life. I don't really like this one.
Me: *shocked and sad* What don't you like about your life, Ella?
Ella: Well, to begin with -- I want to see Kristopher and Geneva more. AND - I want to eat Ice Cream all the time.
Me: Oh! Is that all? *smiles*
Ella: No! I also want a new house and Nora, she screams a lot so maybe if she would quit.

Looking like an Angel

Going out of town

Last weekend Prince C, Ella, and Nora went to see Mammoie while I stayed home to shoot a wedding. On Friday before they left I was telling Ella I was really going to miss them.

Ella: Oh, Hilwe! Give. Me. A. Break.
Frootie!: What?
Ella: Well, you are not going to miss us. You can totally party it up!
Frootie!: Who am I going to party it up with?
Ella: Well, like your friends, duh.
Frootie!: I don't really have friends. I am going to be awfully lonely.
Ella: Why don't you call the other Hilwe and see if you can spend the night? That would be fun.
Frootie!: Alright, I see your point. Maybe I will see if she wants to see a chick flick with me on Sunday....

Air 1

Ella and I love to listen to Air 1. It's the best when I hear her praising from the back seat. Her current favorite is "New York to LA" by press play. She will say, "play that song that says 'we all need love, a different kind of love' again". It's so stinkin' cute.

One Day.....

Ella: I'm gonna have so much nicer of a house than you and daddy.

It's gonna have hard wood floors and horses.

It's gonna have a fancy kitchen and we're gonna have baby rabbits too.

If I have a baby girl, guess what I'm gonna name her? Ashley! Or maybe Hillary.

If I have a boy I'm gonna name him nothing...because I'm having all girls.

Frootie!: don't you think it'd be weird to have a baby named Hillary?

Ella: No. I like that name. Will you take pictures at my wedding?

Frootie!: Yes! Of course!

Ella: and come to the hospital when I have babies?

Frootie!: yes! Who are you having these babies with? Who are you marrying?

Ella: I don't know....Luke I guess.

Frootie!: I think you'll have to fight Shelby for him. I think she wants to marry him.

Ella: oh. Well I'm gonna have a nice house with whoever I marry. I'm gonna have a pool with a fountain and a hot tub. And cheetas.

Frootie!: well what are you gonna do for a job to have all this nice stuff?

Ella: Just be rich.

4th day of School

Today I drove Ella to school. I had to work at 8:30a -- I was excited for our trip. We sang along to Air1 and talked about what she might learn today.

Once we got there she decided she wanted to walk in alone so I pulled up to the door and she hopped out. I had the window rolled down to waive bye and she turned and said, "Um, Hilwe, tell Nora I love her and everything! Kiss Kiss!"

Practicing the Lottery

Yesterday Ella and I were on the way to Indy to surprise Mama Norma for her birthday and we drove past a gorgeous house on Yarnallton Rd. It's my favorite house. For a while last year it was up for sale.

I said to Ella: See that beautiful house? When Daddy and I win the lottery we are going to buy it.
Ella: Ok!
me: We'll put in a big pool out back and it will be awesome.
Ella: Yeah it will. My own pool!
Me: You know the only problem with waiting to win the lottery?
Ella: What?
Me: You have to play the lottery to win.
Ella: Wellllll, maybe you could start practicing.

blowing my clothes off!

A few weekends back Ella spent the weekend with Mama Norma and Papa Larry. She enjoyed my Mom and her giant floor fan.

Here is the story as told by Mama Norma and retold by me:

On Saturday morning Ella woke up late. She sleepily walked into the kitchen and as she passed the floor fan that mom keeps on when she is cooking and doing laundry. Ella was wearing her silky pj pants and the breeze caught her pants and made her giggle and giggle. Mom told her she would make her some oatmeal and to "go on into the living room and relax". Mom went on about making the oatmeal and noticed out of the corner of her eye that Ella was still in the kitchen, when she glanced over she saw that she also wasn't wearing pants. She was holding the pants up letting the wind catch them like a fan. Then she let them go, they blew thru the kitchen and into the laundry room. She giggled, clearly tickled with this. Mom went to the bathroom. When she returned Ella was standing in front of the fan in just her panties. Laughing and enjoying. Mom giggled and acted embarassed to see Ella "naked" and grabbed the oatmeal from the microwave. In the few seconds it took her to grab that, she turned and Ella was butt-naked. She had let her pants, shirt, and panties blow into the laundry room.

Mom exclaimed, "What on Earth are you doing"!?!
And
Ella replied, "I'm pretending the wind is blowing my clothes off, duh!"

haha. The story made me laugh when Mom told it. The cherry on top is when I was retelling it at the pool and Ella overheard me telling the story and said: Sure, Why Not? Like that is the best thing to do... I mean really, next time I am at the lake -- I am definitely taking off my clothes and standing in front of that fan.

Scuba Ella!

Ella's Graduation was quite entertaining. Her teacher had the kiddos announce what they wanted to be when they grow up after they got their diplomas. Here are a few of my favorites:

Potobrapher (photographer)
Professional Ice Skater
I don't know yet
and
Scuba Diver

As Miss Pulliam announced that she was going to have her students do this I wondered aloud what we would hear. Prince C and J both laughed and gave me a "who knows" kind of look....

As Ella pranced across the stage, we waited....She shook hands with Miss Pulliam, hugged her, and approached the mic.

"When I grow up, I want to be a scuba diver."
Awesome.
xxoo,
Frootie!

PS - Her boyfriend said he wants to be a scuba diver too.

American Girl Doll

Ella has been saving for an American Girl doll for quite a while.... When she graduated from Kindergarten last week, her Mommy ordered her one. So, in other words...Ella has over a hundred dollars to spend on something else.
While at her graduation dinner:

Frootie!: What are you going to name your American Girl Doll?
Ella: Addie Pulliam.
Frootie!: So, you want to name her your teacher's name?
Ella: Yep, I love Miss Pulliam.

I can hear you

Tonight while eating dinner Ella burped really loud. Then Prince C burped really loud. They both looked at me : Your turn. No way. I was taught that burping at the dinner table was not a proper way of behaving. Then Prince C started whispering.

Prince C: You better get used to it. She *point point* will teach her *point point* how to do that too.
Frootie!: Ew, I hope not.
Ella: Um, I can hear you! Stop whispering.
Prince C: Ok, fine.
Ella: What'd you say?

Lemon Bars

Last night we made Lemon Bars.

Tonight Prince C gave a bite to Ella.

Ella: *good face - quickly to an awful face* Ew, I don't like this.
Prince C: Just finish it and swallow and you don't have to eat anymore. Do you not like Lemon stuff?
Ella: *shoulder shrug* I dunno.

Prince C leaves the room.

Frootie!: Ew, did you just drool on the couch?!?
Ella: Yes, by accident. That Lemon stuff was just so nasty.
Frootie!: Oh, well Ew! and keep your mouth shut.
Ella: But it was just so gross, like your giant boobies.

xxoo,
Frootie!

Free Willy

Ella: Today in the tub I am going to play Free Willy.
Prince C: That's Frootie!'s favorite game.
Frootie!: *gasp*
Prince C: tee hee. How do you play it?
Ella: I don't know. I just do.

later......

Frootie!: How was Free Willy? Did you free him?
Prince C: What kind of whale was it? A sperm whale?
Ella: No a killer whale. Duh.

Picking up the girl from Pappy and NayNay

On Friday Ella had Grandparent's Day at school. David and Donyah (her Mommy's parents) came to her school. After school they had the option to take the girl out for the day. Of course they wanted to. Here are the details I got from her on Saturday morning when I picked her up.

Frootie!: So, What did you do with Pappy and NayNay?
Ella: I dunno.
Frootie!: What did you have for dinner?
Ella: I dunno.
Frootie!: ok.
Ella: Well, we did have delicious orange jello.

Time passes.

Ella: Oh, did you know I am going to take riding lessons?
Frootie!: What like motorcycles?
Ella: No! Like horses.
Frootie!: Wow! I am afraid of horses.
Ella: Why?
Frootie!: Because they are big and scary.
Ella: Oh! Look at that house like The White House.
Frootie!: Yeah, Neat. So about those lessons....
Ella: Huh, oh yeah. Well, I don't need lessons. I know how to ride already. Get on. Hold tight. Tell it to go.

Ella: I want a black and white horse. Or just a white horse. That's my favorite color.
Frootie!: Yeah a black and white horse would be awesome. Or you could just ride Abbey. That would be safer.
Ella: Who's Abbey?
Frootie!: *laughing* OUR DOG.
Ella: Who? Dori?
Frootie: No Abbey, the giant black and white great dane.
Ella: Oh. I don't ride dogs.

Why'd you marry Daddy?

Ella: Mommy told me she married Daddy because he was handsome. Why did you marry Daddy?
Frootie!: Well, I married Daddy because ...
Ella: *interrupting* it's because we have a Zaxby's isn't it?
Frootie!: Well that is part of it... *giggle* I married Daddy because he is handsome....
Ella: *interrupting* ew, the handsome stuff again....
Frootie!: And, because he is kind
Ella: *interrupting* ew, that part!
Frootie!: Well it's true! Why do you think Daddy married me?
Ella: Because you were pregnant.

Awesome.

*buuuuuurrrrrp*

Riding home from Lowe's today (after we spent $75 on flowers) Ella let out the loudest most hilarious burp ever. I usually don't laugh, I think it is disgusting for girls to burp loudly in public, but this one was hilarious.

Ella: BbbbbbuuuuuuuUUUrrrRRrrrrPPPPpppp!!
Both: *Giggle*
Frootie!: Holy Crap *giggle* Where did that come from the bottom of your toes?
Ella: No, it came from my Mom. She burps loud too!

Tattoos

Last Wednesday we were in Franklin moving the last of my things out of my old house. After we completed that task we went to 2 dinners. One with my parents and one with friends. On the way to Chicago's Pizza we passed a tattoo joint.

Me: Ella, you wanna get a tattoo?
Ella: YEAH!
Prince C: No.
Me: Haha!
Ella: but I want a tattoo Dada.
Price C: what would you get?
Me: ok, if you were getting a tattoo today, where would you get it?
A unicorn. At that place we just passed.
Oh! No, no, on your body, silly.
On my leg. Like daddy. On his ...eking... Hairy leg.
What?!? What are you saying!?!
On my leg. Like daddy's freaking hairy leg.
Price C: oh no! Where did you learn that?
I don't know.
Ok well no more saying it. No more.
Why not? Why can't I say freaking?
Because it's not lady like.
But, it's not a bad word.
Just don't.

It's not been said again - but seriously. Where does a 5 year old hear, "freaking hairy leg"?

Geez.

Kiss kiss,
